IF YOU LIKE
PAINTINGS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND... by Earl Wettstein First I was an adman. That was my career, creative director of my own
ad agency. Then I was a playwright, with six produced works on stage.
Then, as a volunteer for ten years, I created a statewide organization
to teach old people how to die well. In all these tasks, I was telling
stories, giving information, planning messages. And that is what I want my art to do as well. Duchamp said "Unless a painting shocks, it is nothing." He meant that art should have something to say, to not be bland, to not be wallpaper. I plan my paintings to suggest a story, to have content, to suggest that something is going on there inside that EWettstein™ canvas. Take a look. Call me for a Studio visit.
